Originally created in 1978 for Blakes Hotel London, the world's first luxury boutique hotel, renowned designer Anouska Hempel's signature Yardstick lamp reflects her unbridled imagination. Inspired by an outdoor post, she topped it with a subtly flared shade, then lacquered it to a high shine. Reproduced for the first time outside of her Design Studio, the slender, perfectly proportioned column of smoothly plated steel is ringed with an eastern twist on a traditional lamp, its upper portion wrapped in parchment. As Lady Hempel envisioned, a diffuser softens the light and flatters those in its proximity, while placing the Yardstick in multiples is its intended effect.
