19th C. English Bolster Chair
The English antique that inspired this chair was a design ahead of its time, providing adjustable support long before the dawn of modern ergonomics. The mechanism is ingeniously simple: buckled leather straps at the back allow the bolster cushion to be fixed at three positions, to support the neck, mid-back or lumbar. Turned walnut legs and arm posts, slender upholstered arms and a high crowned seat pay homage to the original's Victorian roots.
